Job summary

The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) Facility Engineering Division seeks a qualified professional to direct and coordinate facility engineering work for State-owned buildings. This position will travel statewide to assess facilities, prioritize repair projects, and ensure compliance with state standards.

Responsibilities include design and construction documentation, bid management, procurement coordination, and ensuring projects meet schedule and budget.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in construction project management, construction cost estimation, project cost analysis, preparing cost estimates, preparing project specification and evaluating A/E schedules, estimates and project scope.
• Note that for any position requiring a college degree or college credit, you will be required to submit a college transcript prior to being offered a position.
• Two (2) years of experience in capital budgeting, developing rough order of magnitude estimates, and reviewing A/E prepared estimates are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Internal Construction Document Design: Evaluates program letters and creates bid documents with using agency coordination.
• Contract Approval/Construction: Manages contracts and change orders; ensures completion per specifications.
• Procurement Actions: Prepares bidding documents and coordinates dates with procurement office.
• Professional Services Construction Document Design: Manages A/E design contracts and ensures design meets project justification and industry standards.
• Design or A/E Selection, Negotiation and Management: Involves using agency in selection and design; negotiates A/E fees.
