Job summary

LHH is seeking a Project Engineer to lead and execute capital projects within a complex manufacturing setting. You will serve as the liaison between operations, engineering, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure safe, on-time, and budget-compliant delivery.

Ideal candidates bring 5–15 years of project engineering experience, familiarity with CAD/ERP tools, and a track record of delivering projects from concept to completion in chemical processing or related industries.

Job description

We are seeking a results-driven Project Engineer to lead and execute capital projects within a complex manufacturing environment. This individual will serve as a key liaison between operations, engineering, contractors, and business stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who can identify challenges, develop practical solutions, and take ownership of projects from concept through completion. This role offers a balance of office-based project management and hands-on collaboration within a manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead capital projects from initial scope development through commissioning and project closeout.
• Develop project charters, requests for proposals (RFPs), bid evaluations, schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
• Coordinate engineering, construction, maintenance, operations, and external vendors throughout project execution.
• Manage project scope, timelines, costs, and deliverables to achieve business objectives.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Review engineering designs, drawings, and technical specifications for quality and compliance.
• Support construction activities, commissioning efforts, and handoff to operations.
• Provide technical guidance and resolve engineering challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare project documentation, progress updates, and stakeholder communications.
• Mentor and support less-experienced team members and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-15 years of experience in project engineering, capital project management, or related engineering roles.
• Experience in a chemical processing, refinery, petrochemical, or similar manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
• Proven success managing projects from concept through commissioning.
• Strong understanding of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization.
• Experience working with contractors, vendors, and engineering firms.
• Familiarity with CAD/design software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is not required.
