Position Summary
As a Capital Program Advisory Manager at our technology advisory firm specializing in management consulting for construction owners, you will lead client engagements focused on optimizing project delivery, organizational performance, business processes, and technology strategies. This role serves as a trusted advisor to owners, capital program leaders, and executive stakeholders, helping them improve governance, project controls, PMIS utilization, and operational effectiveness across complex capital programs. This role reports to the Delivery Manager for the Advisory Center of Excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement Leadership
- Lead discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews with executive leadership, project teams, and operational stakeholders to identify business needs, challenges, and strategic objectives.
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients throughout consulting engagements, ensuring alignment of project objectives, deliverables, and expectations.
- Develop trusted advisor relationships with owners and capital program leaders.
- Facilitate executive-level discussions and provide strategic recommendations that improve organizational and project performance.
Business Process & Operational Improvement
- Lead assessments of current-state business processes, organizational structures, governance models, and project delivery practices.
- Facilitate process mapping workshops and future-state design sessions to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
- Recommend industry best practices related to project controls, capital planning, project management, and construction operations.
- Identify opportunities for process standardization and continuous improvement across capital programs.
Advisory & Strategic Consulting
- Evaluate organizational readiness, technology adoption, and operational maturity to support transformation initiatives.
- Develop actionable recommendations that drive measurable improvements in project delivery performance.
- Advise clients on governance structures, reporting frameworks, and project controls best practices.
- Provide strategic guidance on PMIS selection, optimization, implementation, and governance.
Project & Team Management
- Manage multiple consulting engagements simultaneously, including scope, schedule, budget, resource planning, and risk management.
- Lead and mentor analysts and consultants, providing guidance on deliverables, client interactions, and professional development.
- Ensure high-quality execution and timely delivery of project milestones and client deliverables.
- Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Oversee the development of executive presentations, advisory reports, workflow diagrams, process documentation, maturity assessments, and strategic recommendations.
- Present findings and recommendations to executive stakeholders and client leadership teams.
- Translate complex business and technical concepts into clear, actionable insights.
- Ensure all deliverables maintain a high standard of quality, accuracy, and professionalism.
Industry Leadership & Business Development
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, capital program management practices, and construction management methodologies.
- Contribute to the development of consulting methodologies, service offerings, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Support business development activities, including proposal development, client presentations, and opportunity identification.
- Assist in expanding client relationships and identifying new consulting opportunities.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, Project Management, or a related field.
- 10+ of experience as an Owner Project Manager, Construction Manager, Program Manager, or similar role employed directly by a project owner organization (e.g., higher education, healthcare, public agencies, utilities, transportation agencies, corporate real estate organizations, or private owners).
- Demonstrated experience managing capital projects on behalf of the owner organization, with direct responsibility for project governance, budgeting, scheduling, consultant oversight, stakeholder management, and project delivery.
- Experience serving as the owner's internal representative and decision-maker throughout planning, design, construction, and closeout phases.
- Strong understanding of owner governance, project controls, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, change management, and capital program delivery.
- Experience developing and implementing project management processes, standards, and reporting frameworks for owner organizations.
- Proven ability to lead stakeholder workshops, facilitate decision-making, and communicate effectively with executive leadership and project teams.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and client relationship management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and client engagements simultaneously.
Preferred
- Experience with enterprise PMIS platforms such as Oracle Primavera Unifier, e-Builder, Kahua, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar systems.
- Prior management consulting, organizational transformation, program management, or advisory services experience.
- Experience leading technology implementation or business process improvement initiatives.
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to travel up to 30% of the time.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
