Responsibilities

  • Assist in evaluating capital requirements for new products, business initiatives, and strategic projects; collaborate with business units to gather relevant data and ensure accurate capital assessment.
  • Analyze impact of proposed changes in models and methodologies on capital requirements; liaise with model development and validation teams; prepare documentation and presentations summarizing capital impact for senior management and regulatory review.
  • Support the review and update of capital planning and reporting policies to align with regulatory guidance and industry best practices; ensure governance frameworks reflect changes in business strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in preparation of capital forecasts for all monthly, quarterly, annual and multi-year planning cycles across a range of scenarios including Annual Business Plan and regulatory stress testing.
  • Perform capital metrics benchmarking vs. competitors and banks to advise management on capital optimization opportunities.
  • Provide Capital related analytics and updates for key stakeholder sessions such as Capital Committee, Risk Committee, Board meetings, FHFA meetings.
  • Assist management in strategic projects and support a wide range of analytical work to support Freddie Mac’s capital strategies.

Position Overview:

The Capital Forecast and Analysis Senior plays a critical role in supporting the Capital Planning and Analytics team by providing expert financial analysis and project management to drive strategic capital initiatives. This position requires a confident, self-motivated professional with strong analytical, financial modeling, project management and communication skills. The Senior will work cross-functionally with Finance, Business Functions, Risk, Regulatory Affairs, and other lines of business to ensure accurate forecasting, reporting, and optimization of capital resources.

Our Impact:

The Capital Planning and Management Reporting Team focuses on the consolidated capital forecasting, reporting and analytics, scenario design for business planning, capital planning, stress testing and risk appetite setting, rating agencies and investor relations, Corporate Scorecard development and reporting, industry and competitor benchmarking, and the development of Freddie Mac’s Resolution Planning and readiness capabilities. Our team’s central role is to be a close and reliable partner to senior management, providing a variety of insights from regular business and market updates to ad hoc strategic and financial analysis for updates to the Board and our regulator, FHFA.

The Capital Planning and Management Reporting Team reports to the VP of Capital Planning & Mgmt Reporting and this is an excellent opportunity to be part of a results-driven team that will implement Freddie Mac’s Capital Planning and Management Strategy.

Your Impact:

As Capital Planning and Analysis Senior you will:

  • Assist in evaluating capital requirements for new products, business initiatives, and strategic projects; Collaborate with business units to gather relevant data and ensure accurate capital assessment
  • Analyze the impact of proposed changes in models and methodologies from business units on capital requirements; Liaise with model development and validation teams to understand changes and explains details to management; Prepare documentation and presentations summarizing capital impact for senior management and regulatory review
  • Support the review and update of capital planning and reporting policies and procedures to align with regulatory guidance and industry best practices; Ensure governance frameworks are current and reflect changes in business strategy, models, or regulatory requirements
  • Assist in preparation of the capital forecasts for all monthly, quarterly, annual and multi-year business planning cycles across a range of scenarios including Annual Business Plan, regulatory stress testing (DFAST), Capital Planning and Risk Appetite setting partnering with the business finance teams and in coordination with Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Risk, etc.
  • Perform capital metrics related benchmarking vs. competitors and banks based on regulatory/Basel rules and industry developments to advise management on capital optimization opportunities
  • Provide Capital related analytics and updates for key stakeholder sessions such as the Capital Committee, Capital Management Council, Risk Committee, Board meetings, FHFA meetings, etc.
  • Assist management in strategic projects and support a wide range of analytical work to support Freddie’s capital strategies e.g. capital accretion, capital stack, eventual capital distribution, capital build toward its target state where Freddie Mac will be considered fully capitalized under the regulatory capital framework
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or a related field required; advanced degree or relevant certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in capital planning, financial analysis, or risk management within banking or financial services; previous experience related to capital management, capital planning, reporting and analysis strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of the Basel capital framework, secondary mortgage market, financial statements and business practices, Dodd Frank Stress Testing (DFAST) is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and strategic thinking skills to engage with senior leadership with ability to develop presentations and management dashboards
  • Ability to deliver positive change, influence and build strong relationships across different / divergent areas and stakeholders in complex organizations

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $108,000 – $162,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
