I can succeed as a Fundamental Research Group (FRG) Associate at Capital Group.
As one of our FRG Associates, you will work closely and collaborate with Fixed Income Investment Professionals and peers to deliver valuable insights, conduct bottom-up fundamental research and analysis that will drive investment decisions. You will partner with investors on their coverage to help generate investment ideas and monitor holdings by conducting deep fundamental research on companies and related industries, financial modeling, facilitating meetings with management teams, sell-side firms, and industry specialists, relative value comparison, analyzing capital structures, and working as a key contributor in the high yield corporate credit investment process. You will work on projects with increasing complexity over time, receiving guidance and mentorship from experienced investment professionals.

• You are passionate about a career in credit research with a strong interest in high-yield corporate credit investing.
• You have 2-5 years of experience in credit research (experience covering corporate credit; high yield corporate credit preferred).
• You have a strong desire to develop bottom-up fundamental credit research skills working in partnership with experienced investment professionals.
• You have extensive experience with financial modeling and fundamental credit analysis, working with sell-side firms and industry consultants, Bloomberg, and research tools such as trade publications, online sources, and regulatory filings, interpreting this information to generate insightful analysis.
• You can develop and maintain comprehensive charts and visualizations to support credit analysis and communicate investment insights effectively.
• You thrive in team settings, ask good questions, share ideas proactively, and value diverse perspectives.
• You enjoy learning new things and can adapt to varying work styles and expectations.
• You have an inquisitive mind, demonstrating intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in complex areas of financial markets and industry trends.
• You apply sound judgment to resolve conceptually complex matters.
• You possess effective written and oral communication skills.
• You can collaborate and develop/maintain relationships both inside and outside the organization.
• You are available for occasional travel to meet with company management teams and investment professionals.
• You hold a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, STEM, or a relevant field of study.
• Familiarity with programming languages (Python, SQL, R), data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI), and data platforms (Amazon S3, Snowflake, Databricks) is a plus but not necessary.
Salary ranges vary by location:
In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible for an annual performance bonus, Capital’s annual profitability bonus, and a retirement plan with a 15% contribution from Capital.
