Job summary

The NYC Department of Transportation’s Budget and Capital Program Management (BCPM) / Capital Budget Unit (CBU) team invites a City Planner to help manage a $34 billion, ten-year capital program. You’ll support the Director and Assistant Director in capital budget functions and program development, with opportunities to lead analyses for one or more capital areas.

You’ll analyze new capital proposals, assist with Plan submissions, coordinate CP approvals, and prepare ad-hoc reports.

Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time experience in city planning.
  • Graduate education in city planning, urban planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, transportation engineering, public administration, economic development or related fields may substitute for experience (30 graduate semester credits = 1 year). Must have a baccalaureate degree.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze new capital need proposals.
  • Support Capital Plan updates and Capital Commitment Plan submissions.
  • Coordinate Q&A to facilitate Certificate-to-Proceed approvals.
  • Track project delivery and performance; analyze inactive encumbrances.
  • Support capital project mapping and AIMS reporting.
  • Track Mayoral initiatives and prepare ad-hoc reports for management.
  • Work with large datasets; develop clear spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Coordinate with OMB, DOT divisions and other City agencies.
  • Participate in meetings/workshops with senior management and city partners.
