Job summary

Watershed Foods is seeking a Quality CAPA Lead to oversee corrective and preventive actions and customer complaints. You will identify quality trends, investigate issues, drive root-cause investigations, and implement preventive actions across cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance and product safety.

The role requires strong documentation skills and collaboration with inspectors and auditors, with a focus on rapid triage of high-risk complaints and robust CAPA management.

Qualifications

• Manage CAPA procedures and investigations triggered by CCP deviations or process failures.
• Coordinate with QA, Sanitation, Production, and Maintenance to resolve issues.
• Communicate with regulators (FDA/USDA) and auditors (SQF/BRC) as needed.
• Maintain centralized CAPA and customer complaint records and reports.
• Investigate high-risk complaints for illness or contamination and escalate appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Govern CAPA procedures triggered by CCP deviations or preventive controls bypasses.
• Lead cross-functional teams to investigate hazards using 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams.
• Own CAPA workflow for out-of-spec results and deviations.
• Contact regulators and auditors regarding CAPA logs and effectiveness checks.
• Maintain document management systems for CAPAs and customer complaints.
• Rapidly triage high-risk complaints and coordinate with QA for investigations.
• Coordinate with Warehouse and QA for lot-tracing and mass-balance checks.
• Support mock-recall events as needed.
• Draft precise documentation for product quality for retailers and regulators.
• Monitor complaint logs for systemic issues and early warning signs.
• Escalate raw material or packaging complaints to initiate supplier CAPAs.
• Visit manufacturing sites to review gaps in food safety, quality, GMP.
• Support additional initiatives to ensure food safety and quality.
• Back-up for this role is the Quality Manager.
