Job summary

New Canvassing Experience in Austin, TX is hiring a Canvasser to represent our ACLU Campaign in outdoor public spaces. You’ll engage passersby, share stories, and motivate ongoing donations. Pay starts at $24 per hour plus performance bonuses, with a five-day schedule Wednesday through Sunday.

We provide paid training, benefits after 90 days, PTO, and ongoing coaching. Travel opportunities to events and collaboration with teams in other cities are available, as we aim to build long-term

Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.

• Attend public and private sites, working outside in the elements to engage with members of the public
• Meet recruitment targets: a minimum of 8 new committed donors per week
• Represent NCE professionally and in accordance with Codes of Conduct
• Provide accurate reporting and complete records per management requirements
• Be willing and able to work weekends, some public holidays, and some evenings

Pay: $24/hr + performance-based bonuses

Schedule: Wednesday to Sunday (five-day workweek)

Location: Austin, TX(outdoors in busy public spaces)

Job Purpose:

To represent NCE’s ‘For Purpose’ clients by conveying key messages to potential supporters in order to secure a sustainable base of long-term recurring donors with strong donor retention.

Key Accountabilities:

• Attend public and private sites, working outside in the elements, which are allocated in advance by NCE management to actively engage with members of the public
• Meet the recruitment targets set, a minimum of 8 new committed donors per week
• Represent NCE, its clients, and yourself in a professional and informed manner at all times and in accordance with our Codes of Conduct

Who We’re Looking For:

As a Canvasser, your job is to get people’s attention, build rapport, and to tell stories with passion and emotion and drive people to give ongoing financial contributions. You’ll work with teammates in locations around the city and position yourself as a helpful and friendly member of the community.

Previous fundraising or canvassing experience is NOT required!

We’re seeking individuals who are passionate about social and environmental justice and are eager to make a difference. We value demonstrated success in customer service, sales, retail, marketing, or any people‑facing role. We also value experience in event planning, community organizing, and teamwork/leadership.
