Canton Heavy Press Pack Operator - 1st Shift

UAC specializes in 2000- and 7000-series alloys and offers a full range of alloys and tempers that can be tailored to a customer’s particular application.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Exercise and promote safety
  • Examine all paperwork for each order to identify special instructions
  • Understand tools and how to use them
  • Inspect parts for defects
  • Verify piece count and length
  • Verify the shape matches the part drawing
  • Verify lot to hard card and stencil sheet
  • Sand and buff parts for quality blemishes
  • Understand scrap tags
  • Read and understand hard cards
  • Calculate weight and length of parts
  • Identify special instructions
  • Complete hard card after a task is finished
  • Inspect rigging: straps, spreader bar, booms
  • Understand locations of materials
  • Understand how to use the transfer cart system
  • Pull and stage material
  • Assist with monthly inventory
  • Understand the pack schedule
  • Locate and identify required material
  • Stencil parts accurately
  • Operate saw for dunnage
  • Make stable bundles
  • Band and label bundled parts
  • Know packing requirements for the load: bare bundles, Reddi-Paks, wood boxes, waterproof paper, cardboard, pallets
  • Make shipping containers
  • Handle and pack material in wooden or cardboard boxes using good commercial practices
  • Apply corrosion inhibiting oil unless otherwise stated on the traveler
  • Complete paperwork as necessary
  • Pack flatbed trucks and rail cars according to specifications
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum Education: HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum Experience: None
  • Certifications Required: Confined spaces certification; Crane certification; Fall protection certification; Forklift certification; Lock-out/Tag-out certification; Pallet jack certification
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively listen and communicate ideas and thoughts to others; able to assimilate ideas originated by others
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to carry out and communicate written and/or oral instructions
  • Physical Abilities: Regularly required to stand, walk and use hands; must be able to lift 50 pounds at any time during his/her shift; the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
