The Facilities Kitchen team provides simple, tasty meals in a clean, efficient, and friendly environment — and we're looking for someone dependable to join us.

About the Role
As a Canteen Cook, you’ll prepare and serve evening meals for staff working our late shift. You'll follow set menus, keep the kitchen clean and safe, and manage supplies so everything runs smoothly. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structure, routine, and being part of a small, focused team.


Getting Started
  • Learn the kitchen layout, daily food prep routine, and meal service schedule
  • Understand health, safety, and hygiene standards
  • Get to know how we manage ingredients, stock, and kitchen equipment
  • Coordinate with the daytime team for smooth shift handovers


Establishing Your Impact
  • Prepare and cook meals based on the set evening menu
  • Maintain high hygiene and cleaning standards throughout your shift
  • Handle food safely and store ingredients properly
  • Keep track of inventory and report stock needs
  • Serve food promptly and consistently for the evening shift


Driving Excellence
  • Provide dependable, good-quality meals every evening
  • Minimise waste by using ingredients efficiently
  • Support a calm, well-run kitchen space
  • Suggest practical improvements to make things smoother or more efficient
  • Help maintain a positive and welcoming canteen experience for staff

  • 3+ years’ experience in a kitchen, canteen, or catering role
  • Food hygiene certification and good knowledge of kitchen safety
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own shift
  • Organised and reliable, with good timekeeping
  • Able to follow kitchen procedures and work efficiently under time pressure
  • No formal culinary training needed — just solid experience and a practical approach

  • Shift Two, this is our later shift in the day. The working hours are 4pm to 10pm.
  • Working days are Monday to Friday.
