The UCSC Resource Centers (RCs) offer counter-spaces for students who are queer, trans, non-binary, women, and people of color, and engages the broader campus about issues and challenges facing our communities. The Resource Centers impact institutional policies and campus climate, and RCs offer programs and services to foster student’s personal and professional growth, through community-based leadership development. The Resource Centers’ vision is for students to feel fully affirmed in their diverse and intersecting identities, empowered in their academic success, and to graduate with a sense of belonging. The Cantú Queer Center (CQC) supports same-gender-loving students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as families, friends, and the entire campus community. The CQC serves as a resource to LGBTQIA2S+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, two-spirit, plus other sexual and gender identities) students by providing opportunities for leadership and personal development, and by creating programs and services that work to eliminate heterosexism, bi-phobia, and gender-identity oppression.
