Job summary

Smithers Cannabis Testing Services division in Columbus, OH is seeking a full-time Associate Chemist at our Columbus location. This Advanced Entry-Level Laboratory Support role focuses on sample intake, preparation, and basic data analysis for routine tests such as moisture content and water activity.

The Associate Chemist works with analysts to ensure accurate processing, maintain chain-of-custody and regulatory compliance, and support a clean, safe lab environment in line with SOPs and quality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline preferred.
• Experience in a laboratory environment is preferred; cannabis or regulated industry experience is a plus.
• Experience with data entry and follow SOPs is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Receive and log incoming samples, verifying documentation and labeling accuracy.
• Prepare samples for analysis following SOPs and safety protocols.
• Perform basic laboratory tests such as moisture content and water activity.
• Conduct routine data entry and basic calculations for non-complex analyses.
• Maintain accurate chain-of-custody and sample tracking records.
• Prepare reagents, solutions, and other laboratory materials as needed.
• Assist in maintaining laboratory inventory and restocking supplies.
• Clean and maintain laboratory workspaces, glassware, and equipment.
• Follow state regulations and laboratory SOPs; maintain safety procedures.
