Job summary

DLH Corporation is hiring a CANES SME (Systems Analyst III) to join our team onsite at Naval Station Norfolk, supporting TACNET modernization through CANES baseline training development. Transform system updates into practical training products for the Navy with strong shipboard network experience and attention to detail.

The role requires translating real-world system administration into effective training content, reading technical docs, and maintaining curriculum quality for fleet readiness.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Navy TACNET, CANES, ISNS/COMPOSE or other C4I systems.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum five years of experience with computerized systems, including network protocols, system administration, or LAN environments.
  • Experience with system configurations, upgrades, or baseline changes in an operational or sustainment environment.
  • Strong understanding of shipboard network architecture and operational practices.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation to real-world systems or training content.
  • DoD 8570 and/or 8140 cybersecurity workforce qualifications within nine months of hire date.
  • Active Secret Clearance required.

Responsibilities

  • Review system updates and configuration changes to ensure the curriculum aligns with the latest CANES fleet baseline.
  • Develop, update, and maintain CANES and C4I courseware, lesson plans, student guides, presentation materials, and practical lab exercises.
  • Apply Instructional System Design methodologies to define requirements and learning objectives.
  • Utilize Navy authoring tools such as CPM/LOM and AIM to develop and manage curriculum.
  • Ensure training materials reflect real-world system administration practices and fleet operational standards.
  • Support pilot courses and fleet training events.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and incorporate feedback to maintain technical accuracy and instructional quality.

DLH is hiring a CANES SME (Systems Analyst III) to join our team onsite at Naval Station Norfolk, supporting TACNET modernization through the development of training aligned to the latest CANES baseline. In this role, you will transform system updates, configuration changes, and fleet requirements into practical training products used across the Navy. Success requires strong shipboard network expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to translate real-world system administration experience into effective training.

Responsibilities

  • Review system updates and configuration changes to ensure the curriculum aligns with the latest CANES fleet baseline.
  • Develop, update, and maintain CANES and C4I courseware, lesson plans, student guides, presentation materials, and practical lab exercises.
  • Apply structured training development processes, including the Instructional System Design methodology, to define requirements and establish learning objectives.
  • Utilize Navy authoring tools such as CPM/LOM and AIM to develop and manage curriculum.
  • Ensure training materials accurately reflect real-world system administration practices and fleet operational standards.
  • Support pilot courses and fleet training events.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and incorporate feedback to maintain technical accuracy and instructional quality.

Required Qualifications This position is governed by Service Contract Labor Standards and must meet the minimum personnel qualification requirements identified in the contract.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting Navy TACNET, CANES, ISNS/COMPOSE, or other C4I systems
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience supporting computerized systems, including experience with network protocols, system administration, or LAN environments
  • Experience working with system configurations, upgrades, or baseline changes in an operational or sustainment environment
  • Strong understanding of shipboard network architecture and operational practices
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation to real-world systems or training content
  • DoD 8570 and/or 8140 Cybersecurity workforce qualified within nine (9) months of hire date
  • Active Secret Clearance walking through the door

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent hands-on experience with CANES or COMPOSE
  • Background supporting fleet sustainment, Regional Maintenance Centers, or in-service engineering activities
  • Experience developing training materials, SOPs, technical guides, or configuration documentation
  • Familiarity with Navy training development processes or structured curriculum development
  • Experience working with virtualization platforms (VMware), Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server, or Cisco networking
  • Prior experience mentoring or guiding personnel in technical environments
