Job summary

WHITLEY PEANUT FACTORY INC in Virginia is seeking a Candy Production Associate in the Candy Department at Corporate HQ / Hayes Plant. You will craft peanut- and tree-nut-based confections using both manual and automated processes, maintaining high quality and safety standards.

You will work in a fast-paced production environment with strict food-safety practices, weigh ingredients accurately, operate equipment, and assist other departments as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or production preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and hand-dip peanut and tree nut clusters using traditional confectionery methods.
• Ensure consistent quality, portioning, and appearance of finished products.
• Monitor automated dipping operations to ensure the machine produces consistent, high-quality clusters.
• Accurately weigh ingredients and packages to ensure correct portions and labeling requirements.
• Safely operate a pallet jack.
• Notify Supervisor/Management of issues and follow up on resolution.
• May perform tasks for other departments, as needed.

Scope of Position

Candy Associates play a critical role in the production and packaging of confections and brittle. They are responsible for crafting high-quality peanut- and tree nut-based candy products through both manual and automated processes. This role requires a strong understanding of confectionery handling, food safety and quality practices, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

• Understand and adhere to all food safety, quality and company standards
• Represent and reflect a culture of food safety
• Prepare and hand-dip peanut and tree nut clusters using traditional confectionery methods.
• Ensure consistent quality, portioning, and appearance of finished products.
• Monitor automated dipping operations to ensure the machine produces consistent, high-quality clusters.
• Make adjustments or notify maintenance if inconsistencies or issues arise.
• Accurately weigh ingredients and packages to ensure correct portions and compliance with labeling requirements
• Safely operate a pallet jack
• Perform designated sanitary operating proceduresNotifying the Department Supervisor and/or Management of any issues that cannot be properly addressed
• May perform tasks for other departments, as needed

Working Conditions

• Standing 100% of the time
• Ability to lift up to 25lbs. for short and long distances and 50 lbs. with assistance
• Compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE)
• No jewelry allowed in production areas

Minimum Qualifications

Previous manufacturing experience is preferable
