Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee seeks a part-time program facilitator to deliver LIVESTRONG at the YMCA sessions for adult cancer survivors. You will lead safe, engaging group classes, perform assessments, and tailor plans to individual progress while supporting retention and community connection.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate session data, communicating with participants, and traveling to community sites as needed to ensure program fidelity and participant success.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, organization and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to build community within a group and show empathy for health seekers.
• Flexible to work with people from diverse backgrounds and settings.
• Comfortable with data and have strong computer skills.
• Cultural competency and understanding of behavior change.
• Familiarity with Listen First or motivational interviewing is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Lead energizing, safe, small group classes to support YMCA mission and goals.
• Complete functional assessments and create individual program plans.
• Cultivate participant commitment and support retention.
• Create a welcoming, non-judgmental environment for participants.
• Foster relationships among participants and with staff.
• Travel to community locations for program delivery as needed.
• Prepare for each session and update plans based on results and conversations.
• Be accessible to participants before and after sessions for questions and follow-up.
• Record bi-weekly attendance and exercise data for each session.
