Job Description

Obtains and inputs oncology data to support accreditation follow up in compliance with state and national standards. Trains to become an Oncology Data Specialist – Certified (ODS-C) under the supervision of an ODS-C.

Schedule can be flexible

  • Utilizes multiple electronic medical records and reports to accurately identify cases with new cancer diagnoses. Coordinates multidisciplinary case presentation at care site cancer conferences with physicians, radiology and pathology departments.
  • Under the supervision of a Certified Tumor Registrar, trains to perform abstraction duties.
  • Completes department and Intermountain Health required continuous training and education.
  • Attends all team, departmental and system required meetings.
  • Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates Degree in Health Information Management required
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and /or Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) is required
  • One year previous work experience in physician office or hospital medical records department Strong understanding of electronic medical records and the ability to research and locate important information within the EMR is required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience within cancer registry is preferred
