Job summary

The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Lab of Dr. Halmai in basic medical sciences.

You will establish and characterize patient-derived 3D organoid cultures from tumor biopsies to define cancer subtypes, targets, and biomarkers for precision medicine. The role requires a PhD in a biomedical field and experience in molecular biology or genomics.

Qualifications

• PhD in a biomedical field is required.
• Experience in molecular biology, genomics, or primary cell culture.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
• Ability to design and execute research plans.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain cancer 3D organoid lines.
• Perform molecular and cellular assays.
• Conduct CRISPR/Cas9 edits and screens to characterize genomic alterations.
• Perform inhibitor screens to identify therapeutic vulnerabilities.
• Conduct cancer genomics research under the PI.
• Develop and conduct complex research projects.
• Formulate methods and analyze data with independent judgment.
• Foster collaborations within the department and across the University.
• Present results at meetings and conferences.
• Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
• Participate in grant writing with preliminary data.
• Develop protocols as dictated by results.
• Assist supervision of lab staff.
• Contribute to daily lab operations.
