Camunda Engineer
St Louis, MO
Who We Are:

Excelacom is a global consulting and technology solutions firm solving client's complex business and technology challenges through a mix of consulting expertise, telecom-focused software, and managed services within the communications and media industries.

Who You Are:

We are seeking a Camunda Engineer to lead the architecture, migration, and implementation of enterprise workflow orchestration solutions using Camunda 8. This role combines solution architecture with hands-on engineering and will focus on modernizing telecom OSS/BSS workflows from Pega to Camunda. The ideal candidates can define a scalable target-state architecture, guide migration strategy, build production-grade solutions, and provide technical leadership to experienced Pega engineers who are new to Camunda.

As a Consultant, you'll contribute to client engagements by delivering insights, building deliverables, and leading workstreams. You'll be expected to bring strong analytical thinking, and a proactive mindset to solve client problems and drive transformation.

Role and Responsibilities:

You may work on various projects throughout your career with Excelacom. The roles and responsibilities noted below pertain to the specific role listed above.

  • Contribute to and help shape Camunda solution architecture for enterprise workflow orchestration and define the target-state architecture across workflow, integration, deployment, security, scalability, and observability.

  • Lead the migration and modernization of Pega workflows to Camunda, including current-state assessment, dependency analysis, BPMN/DMN mapping, target-state process design, migration sequencing, parallel run/cutover, testing, production stabilization, and Pega decommissioning.

  • Design and build Camunda 8 solutions using BPMN, DMN, Zeebe, APIs, workers, and connectors.

  • Integrate Camunda with enterprise systems through REST APIs, events, messaging, microservices, and other services.

  • Design scalable orchestration solutions for telecom OSS/BSS domains including order management, provisioning, activation, fulfillment, billing, inventory, CRM, and assurance.

  • Establish Camunda CI/CD, monitoring, operational, reliability, and scalability best practices.

  • Mentor engineers, partner closely with experienced Pega engineers, and provide hands-on Camunda technical leadership throughout migration and implementation.

  • Work closely with clients to identify process improvements

  • Analyze business challenges and recommend technology-driven solutions

  • Support system development, integration, and testing activities

  • Develop presentations, deliverables, and implementation plans

  • Assist with proposals and business development efforts

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Camunda 8 and production-grade workflow orchestration solutions.

  • Expertise in BPMN 2.0 and workflow orchestration, including process and decision modeling.

  • Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architecture.

  • Experience deploying, supporting, troubleshooting, and stabilizing workflow solutions in production environments.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps practices, monitoring, and observability.

  • Strong enterprise integration experience using REST APIs, messaging, events, and services.

  • Ability to operate as both a solution architect and hands-on engineer, leading design while contributing directly to implementation.

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field

  • Prior consulting experience - in an agile environment - with a leading strategy firm, consulting practice, or consulting technology firm

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Pega workflows, case management, rules, and application architecture.

  • Ability to analyze and decompose Pega applications and translate existing workflows into modern Camunda-based solutions.

  • Experience migrating or modernizing BPM and case management platforms, with the ability to redesign processes rather than perform one-to-one conversions.

  • Telecom OSS/BSS experience across order management, provisioning, activation, fulfillment, service/resource inventory, billing, CRM, and assurance.

  • Experience in Cable, Wireless, Fiber, or MSO environments.

  • Experience leading Pega-to-Camunda migration planning, parallel run/cutover strategies, production stabilization, and legacy platform decommissioning.

  • Experience designing orchestration platforms that can support future automation and AI-driven capabilities.

  • Prior experience in Telecommunications, Media, or Cable is highly preferred

  • Past success in generating new business with existing clients

  • Good time management and collaboration skills
