Job summary

Rita Levine Rabin Hillel at Hunter College in New York, NY seeks a compassionate Community Engagement Social Worker to lead the Wellness Program, build student connections, and mentor student leaders. This in‑house role focuses on connecting students to food, career and mental health resources while fostering Jewish community life.

The ideal candidate holds an MSW, has campus experience, and demonstrates strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• MSW required; LMSW and SIFI preferred.
• Experience with college-age students, ideally in campus, community or youth settings.
• Program planning or supervision experience, or a strong interest in learning.
• Strong communication, organization and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to inclusive, welcoming environments; familiarity with Jewish life a plus, not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead Wellness Program and build trust with students.
• Supervise undergraduate engagement interns and facilitate meetings.
• Develop new programs each semester and support Shabbat, late‑night and other programming.
• Co-facilitate a Jewish Learning Fellowship class each semester with a wellness lens.
• Recruit for Birthright, Perspectives and the annual Shabbaton.
• Monitor student WhatsApp chats and Hillel social media for opportunities and referrals.
• Run the monthly Met Council grocery program and weekly kosher lunches; track participation.
• Coordinate with Career Services and organize alumni/senior career events and headshots.
