IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Transportation Assistant Manager in Houston to support the Campus Transportation Manager, coordinate bus routes, and oversee daily fleet operations. The role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and using routing software to ensure efficient service.

Ideal candidates will bring CDL knowledge, bus operation experience, and bilingual abilities, with a focus on leadership and timely, compliant execution of transportation tasks.

Qualifications

• Education: GED or High School Diploma.
• Experience: Large passenger vehicle operations or equivalent.
• License: CDL with class P (passenger) and S (school bus) endorsements.
• Bus driver safety training completed.
• Must be 18+ and pass alcohol/drug tests.
• DOT physical exam required.
• Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Assist Transportation Manager to coordinate bus routes and daily operations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Train staff on mapping and routing software.
• Oversee dispatch and respond to incidents and emergencies.
• Maintain driver credentials and scheduling; enforce safety standards.
• Use Transfinder to create/update routes at campus level and Route Finder for reports.
• Provide excellent customer service to school staff, parents and students.
