Job summary

University of Michigan is seeking two Graduate Student Instructors (GSIs) for Environ 391 in Winter 2027. The 35–50% FTE positions involve assisting with course materials, leading weekly discussions, and grading.

Successful candidates will support the instructor, coordinate with sponsors, and help design student feedback surveys. Responsibilities include attending lectures, meeting weekly with the instructor, maintaining course websites, and conducting office hours.

Qualifications

• Must be a current graduate student in good standing at the University of Michigan.
• Intermediate in Word & Excel and Canvas usage.
• Eligible for GSI appointment per LS&A guidelines and English proficiency evaluation if required.

Responsibilities

• Attend all lectures and discussions and complete readings.
• Meet with instructor weekly and prepare updated course materials.
• Lead weekly discussion sections and manage small group activities.
• Grade assignments and provide feedback on student projects and participation.
• Create and manage course website content and communicate with project sponsors.
• Hold weekly office hours and assist with speaker coordination.
