Job summary

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, seeks a Campus Support Coordinator for Pee Dee Regional Center in Florence to support residents and families, coordinate staffing, and uphold care plans.

Under supervision, coordinate campus rounds, ensure DP H staffing, document incidents, and partner with coordinators and leadership to maintain compliant operations and high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct hands-on care and assists with activities of daily living.
  • Transports consumers to programs and appointments, ensuring health and safety.
  • Attends periodic meetings with Campus Support Coordinators and leadership.
  • Reports abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other critical incidents to the Risk department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Facility Administrator or senior leadership.

Under the direct supervision of the Campus Support Director this position:

  • Patrols and monitors campus grounds; checks for fires, prowlers, vandalism or other unusual occurrences; makes rounds of buildings/units according to agency and office directives, ICF regulations, and facility internal procedures. Conducts routine fire drills and emergency medical drills.
  • At the beginning of each shift, obtains residential coverage levels from each Residential Administrator providing assistance with campus wide coverage, ensuring each building is properly staffed according to Department of Public Health (DPH) standards. Monitors coverage levels throughout each shift to ensure adequate staffing is maintained.
  • Completes daily log of issues arising on each shift, documenting important events (such as residential staffing levels; residential staff call-ins/overtime(OT)/holdovers; issues regarding consumer illness, and/or behavioral episodes; physical plant issues; etc.). Sends communication to appropriate management staff for follow-up on noted deficiencies.
  • Provides direct hands on individual care to all consumers as needed. Follows sound professional techniques according to agency guidelines, rules and regulations. Participates in training and provides guidance to consumers in the development of activities of daily living skills. Monitors and transports consumers to and from programs, activities and off-campus appointments/trips. Ensures the health and safety of each consumer while assigned to a residential building. May be required to stay over or work an additional shift to ensure proper staffing levels are maintained to ensure the safety of consumers.
  • Provides on the spot correction(s) for noted deficiencies. Assists staff as needed with programmatic issues, especially consumer behavioral issues, in accordance with the consumer's Behavior Support Plan (BSP).
  • Attends periodic meetings with other Campus Support Coordinators, switchboard operators and executive staff members to facilitate follow up of information, regarding facility procedures, events, policies. Attends training as appropriate.
  • Contacts Facility Administrator/designated contact as soon as possible regarding notification following ICF regulations, departmental directives and regional center procedures. Timely and accurately reports Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation (ANEs) and Criticals to the Risk department and informs/places employees on suspension pending investigation (SPI).
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Facility Administrator or other senior leadership.

The position for this posting is located at Pee Dee Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Florence, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

A high school diploma and management experience with business and/or leadership roles in federal, state, or private organization settings. Must have a valid driver's license.

Immunization:

If this position requires the applicant to work directly with consumers of the South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

State Disaster Plan:

In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, employees of the South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
