Join our team at the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD), Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD) where we are dedicated to providing compassionate and accessible care to our community. We are seeking a Campus Support Coordinator who is motivated to help individuals and families navigate life's challenges and achieve long-term wellness.

This posting seeks to fill an opening on 2nd shift.

Under direct supervision of the Director of Campus Support Coordinator the incumbent performs duties designed to protect the property of assigned Regional Center and the rights of individuals against loss or injury due to disorderly acts, accidents, fires or other hazards. Ensures the health, safety, accountability and developmental needs of the consumers through adherence to the ICF regulations, agency directives, and facility internal procedures. Makes routine decisions to maintain normal operations, and as needed or instructed, notify the Facility Administrator/designee.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Obtains residential coverage levels from each Residential Administrator providing assistance with campus wide coverage, ensuring each building is properly staffed according to Department of Public Health standards. Monitors coverage levels throughout each shift to ensure adequate staffing is maintained.
  • Patrols and monitors campus grounds, check for fires, prowlers, vandalism or other unusual occurrences; makes rounds of buildings/units according to agency directives, ICF regulations, and facility internal procedures. Conducts routine fire drills and emergency medical drills.
  • Completes daily log of issues on each shift, documenting important events (such as residential staffing levels; residential staff call-in/OT/holdovers; issues regarding consumer illness, and/or behavioral episodes, physical plant issues etc.) Sends communication to appropriate management staff for follow-up on noted deficiencies.
  • Provides on the spot correction(s) for noted deficiencies. Assists staff as needed with programmatic issues, especially consumer behavioral issues, in accordance with consumer's Behavior Support Plan (BSP).
  • Provides direct hands-on individual care to all consumers as needed. Follows sound professional techniques according to agency guidelines, rules and regulations. Participates in training and provides guidance to consumers in the development of activities of daily living skills. Monitors and transports consumers to and from programs, activities and off campus appointments/trips. Ensures the health and safety of each consumer while assigned to a residential building. Maybe required to stay over or work an additional shift to ensure proper staffing levels are maintained to ensure the safety of consumers.
  • Contacts Facility Administrator/designee as soon as possible regarding notification following ICF regulations, departmental directives and regional center procedures. Timely an accurately reports Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation (ANE) and Critical to Risk department promptly and informs/places employees on administrative leave without pay (ALWOP).
  • Attends periodic meetings with other Campus Support Coordinators, switchboard operators and executive staff members to facilitate follow up of information, regarding facility procedures, events, policies. Attends training as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Facility Administrator.

This position is located at Coastal Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Summerville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Requirements

A high school diploma and management experience with business and/or leadership roles in federal, state, or private organization settings. Must have a valid driver's license.

Knowledge of the methods and techniques for securing buildings and grounds. Ability to maintain peace and decorum. Knowledge of the practices and techniques of safety, security and fire protection. Ability to act quickly and intelligently in emergency situations. Ability to adjust to fluctuating situations. Ability to investigate accidents, disturbances and violations. Ability to deal courteously and firmly with the general public, staff, and consumers. Must have a strong knowledge of Regional Center policies/procedures and agency directives. Must be knowledgeable of ICF regulations, Therapeutic Options, CPR, Standard First Aid, and Defensive Driving.
