Job summary

Sam Houston State University’s SHSU Online seeks a Student Social Media Specialist to support KSHU’s social media presence in Huntsville, TX. This in-person student role covers monitoring conversations, creating posts, and assisting with campaigns.

You'll collaborate with full-time staff and fellow students, gain hands-on digital media experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, and travel locally for content capture.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled as a Sam Houston State University student.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with full‑time staff and other student employees.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally online, by email, over the phone, and in person.
• Comfortable interacting with the public and engaging with audiences across social media platforms.
• Interest or experience in social media, marketing, communications, broadcasting, journalism, media production, business, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and publish social media posts, identifying emerging trends and opportunities for content.
• Interact with audiences and help expand KSHU’s visibility across digital platforms.
• Support multimedia content production, including photography, videography, editing, and scripting.
• Collaborate with full‑time staff and other student employees to develop and implement campaigns.
