Job summary

South Texas College is seeking a Security Guard Specialist to supervise campus security personnel, conduct patrols of buildings, grounds and parking areas, and provide first-line response to emergencies. The role includes enforcing operating procedures, reviewing time cards, and supporting safety initiatives across the district.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate's Degree, at least two years in security, and strong communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required.
• At least two years of security and safety operations experience.
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to work varied hours and locations, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Supervises security guards and schedules personnel to cover designated facilities and shifts.
• Conducts patrols and inspections of campus buildings, grounds, and parking areas.
• Ensures security personnel follow the Security Guard Operating Procedures.
• Reviews time cards and leave requests for security personnel.
• Monitors performance and counsels security personnel on performance and attendance matters.
• Documents infractions and prepares disciplinary documentation as approved.
• Assists with equipment quotes and training of security personnel.
• Responds promptly to safety and security incidents; provides escort services and public assistance.
• Maintains and issues parking citations; manages evacuation chairs and vehicle safety equipment.
• Travels throughout the college district as needed; performs other duties as assigned.
