Job summary

Douglas County School District in Parker, CO seeks a Campus Security Specialist to promote a safe, secure environment at schools and facilities. You will monitor activity, intervene in disturbances, and enforce the district’s rules to protect students, staff, and visitors.

This full-time role requires 1–3 years in related fields, or education in law enforcement or counseling, with First Aid/CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1–3 years of job-related experience preferred in law enforcement or similar activities.
  • Physical requirements include lifting 5 to 40 pounds, frequent sitting, bending, stooping, walking, standing, kneeling, squatting, and reaching.
  • Colorado First Aid/CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Watch for disturbances, fights, unauthorized visitors, or criminal activity.
  • Monitor visitor access to ensure only authorized persons enter the campus.
  • Supervise students and enforce campus rules and parking regulations as needed.
  • Assist law enforcement and District Security with policy enforcement.
  • Respond to incidents and de-escalate confrontations to keep students safe.

Provides a positive role model for students and develops and promotes positive relationships with students. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community members and school clientele.Minimum Experience: One (1) to three (3) years job related experience preferred, which may be gained by one (1) to three (3) years experience in law enforcement, adolescent supervision programs, or similar activities; or two (2) years education in law enforcement, social services, behavioral sciences, counseling, or similar areas.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:• Occasional lifting five (5) to forty (40) pounds• Frequent sitting• Moderate bending, stooping, walking, standing, kneeling, squatting, and reaching• Infrequent, but possible contact with violent youth and/or adults• Infrequent, but possible physical intervention in assaults and/or fights or physical restraint of students and/or adultsPosition Specific Information (if Applicable):Responsibilities:Watch for disturbances, fights, unauthorized visitors, or criminal activity. Assess danger and call for assistance if necessary; intervene to halt or prevent fights, disturbances, or other incidents. Diffuse threatening or confrontational situations between students or others to ensure order is restored and students are unharmed.Monitor visitor access during school hours to ensure only authorized persons enter to maintain a safe and secure campus.Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.Monitor and supervise students’ activities at assigned locations in the building and/or on the grounds and enforce parking regulations.
