Job summary

BYU–Hawaii is seeking a Security & Safety Dispatcher to monitor radio traffic, telephone calls and campus alarm systems. The incumbent will coordinate dispatch of security and safety personnel to respond to requests and emergencies, and assist with general office duties as needed.

Key tasks include monitoring systems, handling dispatch for EMS and campus maintenance, issuing parking permits, and maintaining the dispatch log with clear, timely communications.

Qualifications

• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Demonstrate clear and concise written and communication skills.
• Ability to hear alarms and other warning devices.
• Ability to multi-task and remain calm under stressful circumstances.
• Ability to type a minimum of 25 words per minute.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of standard office equipment and software (Word, Excel & Outlook).
• Frequently views multiple video displays for extended periods of time to read documents and screens.
• Ability to move around and lift/carry/pull/push objects up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Systems (34%): Radio Traffic, Fire System Notification /Alarms, Duress Alarms.
• Dispatch (33%): Security/Safety Personnel, EMS, Fire, On-Call Staff.
• Office Duties (33%): Answer Telephone, Issue parking permits, Dispatch Log, Calls for Service, Other duties.
