Job summary

CT State Community College - Capital Campus in Hartford, CT is seeking a Buildings and Grounds Patrol Officer to provide basic security services, patrol campus grounds, enforce parking regulations, direct traffic, and assist visitors. The role requires attention to safety, quick judgment in emergencies, and reliable teamwork.

The position is full-time, 40 hours weekly, with shifts 1st or 2nd and seniority-based bid process.

Qualifications

Any experience or training which would provide the skills and abilities indicated above.
Experience in Protective Service/Security in an educational environment.
Valid Driver's License.
Security Guard Certification.
Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.

Responsibilities

Enforces regulations relating to parking and traffic control as established by assigned agency.
Directs traffic on state property.
Issues tickets for violations.
Gives information and assistance to visitors.
Guards entrances and exits to prevent trespass, vandalism, theft and other violations.
Performs routine vehicle and foot patrol duty and monitors security and alarm systems to detect theft and other criminal acts.
Provides security escorts.
Provides first aid when necessary.
Performs dispatching and record keeping functions at a desk post.
Assists in maintaining order among patients in a state hospital.
