Job summary

Denton Independent School District in Denton, Texas is seeking a School Security Officer to provide armed security on campus, monitor safety protocols, and support the campus emergency response plan while coordinating with campus leaders.

Qualifications include a High school diploma, a Texas Peace Officer License (TCOLE), and a willingness to obtain FEMA Incident Command certification; valid Texas driver’s license; reports to the Director of Safety and Security and Campus Principal; 187 duty

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Texas Peace Officer License issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
• FEMA Incident Command certification (preferred) – willing to obtain within 6 months of employment
• Must have a valid Texas driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Commands presence, visible at high traffic times on campus, and attends after school events as needed.
• Conducts interior/exterior patrols of the campus and grounds.
• Coordinates with campus leadership to complete and manage campus Emergency Operation Plans for campuses within feeder patterns.
• Conducts campus safety and security door checks, weekly door audits and campus building audits.
• Coordinates with campus leadership and staff to perform safety procedures and drills, including documentation.
• Coordinates with campus leadership to provide training to staff on safety topics.
• Assists campus administrators with safety-related issues.
• Communicates with campus administrator on keys, key cards, and entrance/exit issues.
• Maintains training such as AED, CPR, Stop the Bleed, weapon qualifications, and TCOLE required training.
