Job summary

South Carolina State University is seeking a Campus Security Guard to join the Campus Police Department on a full-time basis. You will patrol campus buildings, grounds, parking areas, and residence halls to deter incidents and ensure safety for students, faculty, and staff.

As a visible presence on campus, you will monitor access points, respond to emergencies, document incidents accurately, and coordinate with local law enforcement when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current or ability to obtain a SC Security Guard registration.
• Valid SC driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or related public safety.
• Strong written and verbal communication for incident reporting.
• Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Your Role on Campus

Working Full-time Across Scheduled Shifts, You'll Be a Visible And Trusted Presence Across The SC State Campus. Your Day-to-day Will Include

• Monitoring access points and enforcing university policies to maintain a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff
• Responding to calls for assistance, documenting incidents accurately, and liaising with local law enforcement when required
• Supporting crowd management at campus events, including evening and weekend functions

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Current or ability to obtain a South Carolina Security Guard registration
• Valid South Carolina driver's license with a clean driving record
• Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related public safety role
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for accurate incident reporting
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
