Job summary

State of Connecticut – CT Technical Education and Career System is seeking an entry-level Buildings and Grounds Patrol Officer for Howell Cheney Technical High School in Manchester, CT. The role involves monitoring security, directing traffic, and assisting visitors in a school environment.

The position is part-time, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM, 35 hours/week, for a ten-month term returning after summer break. Applicants should review qualifications and provide relevant credentials during application.

Qualifications

• Experience or training providing the listed skills.
• Possession of a valid Connecticut Security Officer Identification Card (Guard Card).
• Experience working in security or in a school setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enforces regulations relating to parking and traffic control.
• Directs traffic on state property.
• Issues tickets for violations.
• Gives information and assistance to visitors.
• Guards entrances and exits to prevent trespass, vandalism, theft and other violations.
• Performs routine vehicle and foot patrol duty and monitors security and alarm systems.
• Provides security escorts.
• Provides first aid when necessary.
• Performs dispatching and record keeping functions at a desk post.
