Job summary

Hawaiʻi State Department of Education is seeking School Security Attendants to fill multiple positions with authorization at level III. The role focuses on campus supervision, safety, and enforcing school rules while assisting staff during events.

Responsibilities include patrolling grounds, observing behavior, guiding students to support services, and coordinating with administrators in emergencies. Applicants must meet experience and substitution requirements and be registered as a Guard with

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and understand oral and written English; follow instructions.
• Experience in security or related field preferred, with basic protective knowledge.
• Candidates must meet substitution options for education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Patrol school grounds to supervise students during class, lunch, and events.
• Observe and report on unusual student behavior and safety concerns.
• Discuss problems with students and encourage them to seek assistance or counseling.
• Direct unauthorized persons off school premises and report concerns to administrators.
• Assist with supervision at assemblies, pep rallies, athletic events and dances.
• Enforce school rules; prohibit smoking, gambling, fighting, vandalism, etc.
• Inform administrators of critical situations requiring police or outside assistance.
• Activate alarms as necessary to ensure campus safety.
