Job summary

Truman College, part of City Colleges of Chicago, is seeking a part-time Security Assistant to patrol campuses and support the OSS under supervision. The position involves badge issuance, escorts, and campus information duties along with reporting incidents and coordinating with police or EMS as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma, a criminal background check, and a valid Illinois driver’s license. The shift is part-time and pays $17.48 per hour under the bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or higher in criminal justice preferred.
• High school diploma required.
• PERC preferred; background checks and fingerprinting are standard.
• Proficient with PC desktop and related software.

Responsibilities

• Provides a uniformed presence at assigned college or District Office.
• Patrols on foot and in a vehicle to ensure safety and security.
• Notifies supervisor and security officers of disturbances and irregularities; contacts emergency responders as required.
• Issues student IDs and uses ID badging systems to print cards.
• Provides security escorts and responds to service calls and alarms.
• Warns violators of CCC policy and assists public with information.
• Operates two-way radio communications and maintains incident logs.
• Supports Security Officers and OSS in daily duties.
