SUMMARY

The Safety Assistant maintains a safe learning and working environment for all students and staff on school campuses by monitoring activities and addressing safety concerns. Protects and secures all District property at the campus level.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Monitors campus; upholds all campus and District rules and regulations
• Monitors and assesses campus buildings and grounds to ensure that only students with valid ID’s or authorized persons are on campus and students do not leave campus grounds without authorization.
• Builds positive relationships with students and staff; supports a positive campus climate.
• Informs Dispatch/Base, Safety Assistant, Campus Safety Supervisor or Safety Assistant, Senior of campus activities.
• Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.
• Work hours are 7:00am-3:30pm.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or GED equivalent. Must be at least 21 years of age.

Must possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card and complete an additional background check paid by applicant

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed throughout school campuses and requires exposure to various weather conditions. Physical ability to perform all essential functions.
