Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is seeking a Security Officer to help provide day-to-day campus security and a safe, inclusive environment for students, faculty, staff, and guests. The role reports to the Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Campus Lead and pays an hourly wage of $15.00, with shifts 6 AM–12 PM, 12 PM–5 PM, or 5 PM–10 PM in Elkhart County.

Responsibilities include patrolling, incident response, writing reports, and collaboration with campus partners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must resolve conflicts with excellent written and oral communication.
• Ability to partner with colleagues inside and outside the organization.
• Promote an inclusive environment that respects diverse backgrounds.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and secure campus environment via vehicle and foot patrols.
• Respond to and investigate incidents including thefts, accidents, medical emergencies, fires and alarms.
• Demonstrate strong customer service and student advocacy through a positive, approachable attitude.
• Assist and/or lead response to campus emergencies.
• Complete written incident reports and forms related to public safety duties.
• Maintain campus life safety equipment and CCTV/access control systems.
• Provide safety escorts for students, staff, and guests; unlock/lock doors; open/close procedures.
• Serve as a Campus Security Authority per the Jeanne Clery Act.
