Job summary

Mount Mary University is seeking a Public Safety Officer to provide a professional security presence on campus, promoting safety for students, faculty, staff and visitors. Primary duties include campus patrols and desk coverage at Caroline Hall, monitoring entrances and cameras, and enforcing campus policies.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, valid Wisconsin driver’s license, ability to react calmly in emergencies, and CPR/AED certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must have valid WI DL, a good driving record, and be insurable under the University's insurance carrier.
• Abilities and skills to deal with emergencies.
• Ability to react calmly and responsibly in emergency situations.
• Ability to exercise good and appropriate judgment in dealing with incidents involving potential damage to life or property.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and possess general computer skills.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Ability to become CPR/AED certified.
• Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education.
• Outstanding verbal, writing, and presentation skills; must be able to communicate and interact effectively with Mount Mary students, employees, and visitors.
• Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects.

Responsibilities

• Campus patrols and desk coverage.
• Monitor front entrance and cameras, and enforce guest protocols.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents on campus.
• Prepare shift, incident, and injury reports as appropriate.
• Interact with various offices and outside constituents.
• Perform security desk duties if needed.
• Work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
