Job summary

Seminole State College of Florida is seeking a Security Officer I to help prevent crime and ensure campus safety. Responsibilities include patrols, incident investigation, and reporting, with emphasis on traffic education and enforcement to maintain safe campus operations.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, Florida Class D security license, CPR/First Aid certification, and the ability to obtain/maintain required licenses.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
• Valid Florida driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days with acceptable driving record.
• CPR/First Aid certification or must obtain within six months of employment.
• Security or related training certificate meeting Florida Statute 493 Class D License; must be kept current.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergencies of medical, criminal, and mechanical nature.
• Investigates incidents, interviews participants and witnesses, completes incident reports.
• Patrols College properties to ensure a safe environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
• Provides traffic education, enforcement, and traffic management with warnings and citations.
• Opens and locks buildings at close of operations.
• Records information on entrants after hours and identifies individuals on college property when closed.
• Provides courteous, professional customer service to personnel, students and visitors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
