Job summary

Nova Southwestern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL is hiring a campus safety officer to observe and report on safety and security on campus. You will open, close and monitor NSU property, conduct inspections, coordinate with local law enforcement, and run fire drills to ensure a safe environment.

This non-exempt, hourly role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, a Florida driver’s license, and the ability to work varied shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with MS Office preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Willingness to work any shift, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Detects and responds to safety hazards to ensure on-campus safety.
• Performs security inspections and investigates incidents.
• Conducts safety audits to identify hazards.
• Documents incidents with logs and reports.
• Coordinates with local law enforcement on investigations.
• Executes fire system inspections and emergency drills.
• Controls access to campus buildings.
• Supports other duties as assigned.
