Job summary

Grand Rapids Public Schools GRPS University – Grand Rapids, Michigan is seeking a Public Safety Officer/Security Officer to join the Public Safety & School Security department. The incumbent supports sergeants and building administration to investigate incidents and protect students, staff, and visitors.

Required: Associates degree or 60 credit hours; preferred Bachelor's; bilingual skills desirable; strong communication and teamwork. Position type: Full-Time; Salary: $25.59-$35.70 per hour.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 60 credit hours required.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.
• Bilingual communication skills desirable.
• Experience working with youth preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas to prevent vandalism, theft, loitering, or disruptions.
• Politely challenge unauthorized entrants and direct authorized personnel to destinations.
• Assist with loading/unloading of buses and support bus drivers as needed.
• Identify individuals responsible for violations of rules or laws.
• Investigate and report incidents related to security using GRPS Incident Reports.
• Cooperate with Police when on school property.
• Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Interact with scholars, parents, staff, and community in a positive, cooperative manner.
