Job summary

Jacksonville State University is seeking a part-time University Student Assistant in University Police. DUTIES include patrolling housing areas, engaging with the residential community, performing safety checks, monitoring cameras, and assisting during events.

Escorts, traffic control, and liaison duties with residents and police are included. Applicants must be JSU students enrolled for at least 3 credit hours per fall or spring and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least three (3) hours per fall or spring semester.
• If not a first-time student, the applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Conduct basic foot and scooter patrols in housing areas.
• Build positive relationships within residential community life.
• Proactively address potential safety issues per the DPS plan.
• Check lighting, doors, fire extinguishers, AEDs and monitor cameras.
• Provide campus escort services, directions, and crowd guidance.
• Serve as liaison from residents to police on safety concerns.
• Assist motorists, support events with large crowds, and traffic control.
• Support first responders on calls for service.
