Campus Safety Officer - Part Time (2 Positions Available)

Position Overview

This position is responsible for staffing the university entrance to greet visitors and check vehicles for proper authorization, as well as patrolling the campus to report security violations and emergencies. The position reports to the Director of Security.

Schedule

• Position 1: Friday and Saturday, 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM
• Position 2: Sunday and Monday, 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM

Responsibilities

• Staff entrances to greet visitors and check vehicle authorization.
• Verify credentials of persons entering the property.
• Provide directions to campus locations.
• Conduct rounds on foot or by vehicle, monitoring campus buildings and grounds for safety issues and reporting any concerns.
• Secure campus buildings by locking doors, closing windows, and inspecting boiler rooms.
• Monitor fire and security alarm systems and surveillance cameras.
• Respond to requests for aid from students, faculty, or staff.
• Report violations of university rules and regulations.
• Maintain log sheets.
• Enforce campus parking regulations, issuing warnings and summonses.
• Work overtime or participate in special events as needed.
• Incorporate the university's core values in all interactions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma.
• Responsible work history; law enforcement, security, or military experience preferred.
• Ability to walk for extended periods, including climbing stairs.
• Warm and respectful greeting skills for visitors.
• Ability to operate two-way radios and phones.
• Flexibility to work overtime and special events.
• Valid driver’s license; NJ license preferred.
• Driving skills for security vehicle operation.
• Uniform provided by employer must be worn and maintained.
• Must be authorized to work in the US.
