Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking School Safety Officers for the 2026-2027 school year to maintain a safe, structured learning environment. The role emphasizes prevention, visibility, and positive interaction with students, staff, and visitors.

You will monitor entrances, patrol campuses, assist with arrivals/dismissals, respond to incidents, enforce safety procedures, and complete detailed incident reports. A valid Georgia certification and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Prior security, law enforcement, or school safety experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff, and visitors.
• Professional, calm, and authoritative demeanor.
• Ability to stay alert and proactive in a school environment.
• Must pass comprehensive background screening.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
• Must possess Georgia 24-Hour Unarmed Security Officer Certification.
• Must meet clearance requirements for Gwinnett County Public Schools placement.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible presence on campus to deter and prevent safety concerns.
• Monitor entrances, exits, and campus activity during shifts.
• Conduct routine patrols of school grounds and facilities.
• Assist with arrival, dismissal, and high-traffic periods to ensure order and safety.
• Respond promptly to incidents, disturbances, or emergencies.
• Enforce school policies and safety procedures in a professional manner.
• Provide support to school administrators and staff as needed.
• Complete detailed incident and activity reports.
