Job summary

Bellflower Unified School District is seeking a Campus Security team member for a 9-month position, eight hours daily during the school year. The role focuses on monitoring student behavior, enforcing policies, responding to incidents, and supporting emergency management and safety programs.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience working with adolescents or young adults in structured settings such as schools or security.
• Completion of SB 1626/SB 390 School Security Guard Training (24 hours) as required by law.
• Current CPR and First Aid certificates must be obtained within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Patrols and monitors campus facilities, grounds, and events to promote safety and prepare security reports.
• Observes and patrols hallways, restrooms, parking lots, and perimeter areas to identify safety issues.
• Responds to incidents, prioritizing de-escalation and appropriate district policy.
• Assists in addressing unauthorized persons on campus and students leaving without permission.
• Assists in searches of students or belongings when directed by administration.
• Facilitates student check-in and tardy procedures using designated systems.
• Coordinates with administration and law enforcement during investigations.
• Addresses vaping, substance use, bullying, and other conduct issues through intervention and referrals.
• Operates security tools and equipment including radios, cameras, and detection devices.
• Assists with crowd control at events and provides transportation assistance as needed.
• Reports graffiti or property damage and helps identify responsible parties.
• Monitors maintenance and safety hazards and communicates with appropriate personnel.
• Builds positive rapport with students to encourage compliance.
• Responds to medical emergencies with first aid and CPR within training scope.
• Supports emergency management operations and campus safety events.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
