Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools seeks a Security Officer to provide security and safety services for students, staff, and district properties. Responsibilities include patrolling campuses, responding to incidents, documenting activities, and coordinating with school and police authorities.

Required qualifications include high school graduation, 3 years in law enforcement or security, background clearance, and First Aid/CPR certification. Valid WA driver’s license and ongoing training are required.

Qualifications

• High School graduation or equivalent.
• Three years' experience in law enforcement or security-related field; technical training may substitute for one year of experience.
• Criminal background clearance is required.
• First Aid/CPR certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
• Valid Washington State driver's license and good driving record; annual abstract of driving record.
• Type II driver certification and district-paid Positive Behavior Training Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visibility and rapport with students, staff, and community.
• Supervise students before, during, and after school and at events.
• Patrol school properties and ensure physical security of buildings.
• Document criminal activity and school/district policy violations; prepare incident reports.
• Assist school and police in investigations and provide information for disciplinary purposes.
• Respond to safety violations and coordinate with schools to provide necessary information.
• Operate and maintain security equipment and participate in safety drills.
• Attend meetings and trainings related to school safety and district procedures.
