Job summary

Ashland University seeks a Full-Time Safety Services Officer for Safety Services to support campus safety operations and occasionally cover dispatcher duties. The role reports to the Director of Safety Services and emphasizes timely responses to emergencies and accurate incident reporting.

Successful candidates will be cross-trained for dispatch responsibilities, maintain safety patrols, conduct building walk-throughs, and uphold university policies while serving the campus community with

Qualifications

• Must hold a high school diploma.
• Able to operate department vehicles safely.
• Able to use department radios, phones, and computers.
• Strong writing skills to document incidents.
• Authorized to work in the United States; Ashland University will not sponsor or take over sponsorship for an employment visa.

Responsibilities

• Maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
• Support the mission, goals and objectives of AU and the department.
• Assist the campus community in a constructive, effective and positive manner.
• Report safety concerns to the director.
• Notify the director of scheduling conflicts.
• Cover for dispatcher breaks and shifts as needed.
• Immediately assist all officers when called for assistance or during emergencies.
• Respond to all service calls with urgency.
• Uphold the policies of the university.
• Conduct walk through of university buildings.
• Lock, unlock and check facilities in a thorough manner.
• Provide detailed written reports for incidents requiring documentation.
• Provide immediate follow up with all parties for incidents by conducting and documenting interviews.
