Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking Campus Retail Associates to deliver outstanding customer service in a campus retail setting. You will support store leaders, assist with transactions, greet customers, and help keep the store neat and inviting.

This role offers flexible scheduling, exposure to retail operations, and potential development via our Management Development Program. It is ideal for students seeking part-time, on-campus work with a focus on service excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16+.
• Confident in engaging customers and delivering elevated service.
• Positive attitude and ability to excel in a fast-paced team environment.
• Basic math, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
• Flexible availability during the academic year, including peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Process sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Greet customers and foster a friendly experience throughout their visit.
• Assist store operations, operate equipment and the cash register, and ensure fast, accurate transactions.
• Keep the store organized by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and tidying the space.
• Temporary positions require availability weekly for up to 90 days, with occasional weekends and varied shifts.
• Perform routine housekeeping such as dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, and trash removal.

Responsibilities

Expectations:

• Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Provide a friendly atmosphere by greeting customers and focusing on their positive experience throughout their visit.
• Take initiative to support store operations including operating equipment and cash register while ensuring speed of service and accurate transactions.
• Keep the store looking fresh by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or space within the store.
• Temporary positions require availability to work on a weekly basis for a period of 90 days or less with occasional weekends, and flexibility in scheduling for opening, midday, or closing shifts.
• Routine housekeeping including, for example, dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and/or products.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting.
• Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
