Barnes & Noble College is seeking a Campus Retail Associate to provide friendly, customer-focused service on campus and assist store leaders in daily retail tasks.

This role includes handling cash and payments, stocking displays, and maintaining clean, safe stores. The position is part-time with flexible scheduling to fit academic calendars and campus needs.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Food handling experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Basic math, keyboarding, and data entry abilities.
• Flexible availability during the academic year.

Responsibilities

• Process sales transactions using cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Greet customers and create a positive shopping experience.
• Support store operations, operate equipment and cash register efficiently.
• Keep displays neat by shelving, organizing, and cleaning.
• Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold foods and drinks per recipes.
• Set up or restock displays and rotate food items for sale.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment following sanitation standards.
• Routine housekeeping duties such as dusting, mopping, and trash removal.

Responsibilities

Expectations:

• Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Provide a friendly atmosphere by greeting customers and focusing on their positive experience throughout their visit.
• Take initiative to support store operations including operating equipment and cash register while ensuring speed of service and accurate transactions.
• Keep the store looking fresh by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or space within the store.
• Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold food and drinks following prescribed recipes and techniques.
• Set up or restock displays, wrap, label, date, and rotate food items for sale.
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following cleaning, sanitation, and operational standards. Food handling or safety certification may be required in some locations.
• Part-time positions require availability to work on a weekly basis year round. Schedules may be set or vary to meet the needs of the store.
• Routine housekeeping including, for example, dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and/or products.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting.
• Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age to be considered for employment.
