Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking a Campus Retail Associate to deliver exceptional customer service in our campus store and support store leaders with daily retail operations.

You will greet customers, process transactions, stock displays, and assist in food/beverage prep as needed, while maintaining a clean, safe environment and a positive campus experience.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience in a retail or campus setting.
• Ability to handle cash, cards, and financial aid payments accurately.
• Experience operating a point-of-sale (POS) system and processing transactions.

Responsibilities

• Process sales transactions including cash, card, and financial aid payments.
• Greet customers and provide a welcoming, helpful store experience.
• Operate cash register and support store operations for speed and accuracy.
• Stock and rotate products, keep displays clean and organized.
• Prepare and serve food/beverages per recipes when required.

Responsibilities

Expectations:

• Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Provide a friendly atmosphere by greeting customers and focusing on their positive experience throughout their visit.
• Take initiative to support store operations including operating equipment and cash register while ensuring speed of service and accurate transactions.
• Keep the store looking fresh by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or space within the store.
• Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold food and drinks following prescribed recipes and techniques.
• Set up or restock displays, wrap, label, date, and rotate food items for sale.
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following cleaning, sanitation, and operational standards. Food handling or safety certification may be required in some locations.
• Seasonal positions require availability to work on an as needed basis during peak periods(i.e. semester starts and ends), occasional weekends, and flexibility in scheduling to work periodically during the school year.
• Routine housekeeping including, for example, dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and/or products.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting.
• Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age to be considered for employment.
• Previous food handling experience preferred.
• Confident and comfortable engaging customers to deliver an elevated experience.
• An outstanding attitude with the willingness to learn and the capability to excel in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Basic math, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
• Flexible availability throughout the academic year including peak periods.
