Job summary

Barnes & Noble College seeks a Campus Retail Associate to deliver friendly, customer-focused service in a campus store setting. You will support store leaders in daily retail operations and assist with sales, food service duties, and a welcoming experience for students, faculty, and guests.

This role emphasizes teamwork, flexibility in scheduling, and adherence to food handling standards, with opportunities for development through the store’s programs and campus-based work.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Previous food handling experience preferred.
• Confident and comfortable engaging customers to deliver an elevated experience.
• Basic math, keyboarding, and data entry skills; flexible availability year-round including peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Process sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Provide a friendly atmosphere by greeting customers and focusing on their positive experience.
• Support store operations including operating equipment and cash register with speed and accuracy.
• Keep the store looking fresh by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products.
• Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold food and drinks following recipes and techniques.

Responsibilities

Expectations:

• Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Provide a friendly atmosphere by greeting customers and focusing on their positive experience throughout their visit.
• Take initiative to support store operations including operating equipment and cash register while ensuring speed of service and accurate transactions.
• Keep the store looking fresh by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or space within the store.
• Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold food and drinks following prescribed recipes and techniques.
• Set up or restock displays, wrap, label, date, and rotate food items for sale.
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following cleaning, sanitation, and operational standards. Food handling or safety certification may be required in some locations.
• Part-time positions require availability to work on a weekly basis year round. Schedules may be set or vary to meet the needs of the store.
• Routine housekeeping including, for example, dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and/or products.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting.
• Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
