The University of Central Florida seeks a Campus Recreation Coordinator to enhance the experience at the Recreation and Wellness Center. The Opportunity:
The UCF Student Success and Well-Being Recreation and Wellness Center is currently accepting applications for a Campus Recreation Coordinator (Aquatics and Facilities) to join our team. This position is responsible for assisting with the overall day to day management of the Recreation and Wellness Center. The position will oversee the 2 swimming pools along with the staffing of Lifeguards and Building Managers.
This position/classification may be moved at management's discretion within the SSWB division to commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Success & Wellbeing or his/her designee
Responsibilities:
Assist with the overall day to day management of the Recreation and Wellness Center.
Responsible for daily aquatic operations of both the Lap and Leisure pools.
Coordinate the aquatic program to include, but not limited to, swim lessons, lifeguard certification, special events and reservations.
Coordinate the Building Manager and Aquatic staff of approximately 50 employees. Areas of responsibility include recruitment, hiring, training, supervising, evaluation and overall development.
Assist with coordinating facility reservations, specifically staffing of special needs.
Responsible for recommending and purchasing equipment and supplies and tracking aquatic equipment inventory.
Responsible for Risk Management in areas of responsibility.
Serve as instructor for American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED certification program.
Provide feedback to the Associate Director of RWC Facilities regarding safety of programs, equipment and facilities accomplished by conducting daily observation and by using equipment.
Facilitate and/or serve on RWC, SSWB and UCF Committees.
Assist with the coordination of maintenance and repair of equipment.
Work closely with Student Government (SG) to meet the goals, objectives and expectations of one of their primary funded agencies.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer campus recreation experience (facilities management and strong student development experience).
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
American Red Cross CPR/First-Aid/AED Certification
CPO or AFO Certification
Water Safety Instructor
Lifeguard Instructor
Additional Application Materials Required:
Copy of current group fitness and/or personal training certification as described above.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $21.07. The final rate will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
Candidates applying based on a Master's degree and 0+ years of experience must have their Master's degree conferred by the start date.
